Rachel McDermott is a visual artist and writer based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
As a visual artist, McDermott's practice operates primarily within the fields of sculpture and drawing. Recent works include a series of maquettes that explore the relationship between sculpture, architecture and prototype, as well as a body of drawings combining furniture design with gestural mark making. These works have recently culminated in a solo exhibition at 36 Lime Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Rachel McDermott is a regular contributor to Corridor8 & This is Tomorrow. She also writes academic literature and presented a paper at Newcastle University’s ‘Working Wonder Conference’ (2013).
